Rare Guerdon draws rail and favored status for American Paint Classic

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Grade 1, $93,931 American Paint Classic headlines the racing weekend at Remington Park with a talented field of 2-year-old Paints set for the 350 yards on Saturday night. Rare Guerdon drew the rail post position and status as the morning-line favorite for the second of three major futurities for Paints at Remington Park.

Owned by the powerhouse Paint stable of Sammy Hester and Charles Trochta of Tulsa, Okla., Rare Guerdon will be ridden by regular pilot Larry Payne. Remington Park odds-maker Jerry Shottenkirk tabbed Rare Geurdon as the 3-1 morning-line favorite for the American Paint Classic.

"Rare Guerdon is the favorite off his consistent record of two wins and a second in three starts," Shottenkirk noted. "His only loss was by a neck to standout Rio Rojo Jessie in the Oklahoma Paint Futurity in March. The American Paint Classic features a well-matched field with many having a legitimate chance to win."

Rare Guerdon won his trial event for both the Oklahoma Paint Futurity and this American Paint Classic. He finished second in the Oklahoma Paint Futurity, beaten just a neck. His career earnings through three races are $21,868. Hester also serves as the conditioner for the Oklahoma-bred gelded son of Country Quick Dash from the Rare Form (qh) mare Rare Esperanza.
